Description

Mount Umunhum in the Sierra Azul Preserve offers a rewarding outdoor experience with shaded trails, expansive valley views, and the notable sight of The Cube, an abandoned radar station. The summit parking lot is spacious and provides excellent vantage points, with a smaller lot available midway up the mountain. The trail to the radar station is short but sunny, while the descent is mostly shaded. Facilities include a restroom at the summit, though hand washing is not available. Cell signal is weak throughout the area. Biking is permitted, but dogs are not allowed. The preserve's well-maintained trails and diverse landscapes make it a compelling destination for both leisurely walks and more strenuous hikes.
