Service is always great, the food is solid - some of the best wings around (if you know of better ones, I’m all ears). I always have a hard time deciding what to order because I want several things. And the crayons are a fun touch.

We walked in on a Sunday and experienced bad service. The host was no where to be found and we stood awkwardly by the door for a few minutes. The waitress and bartender did not address us. I went to a waitress and had to ask to sit down. Finally the host came and sat us. We waited a long time (10+ minutes) and the waitress did not come to us. I could see her on her phone instead. We left because we felt so uncomfortable.

If you are visiting New York City, you definitely need to check out Tavern On Jane. Relaxed atmosphere with excellent service and great food. Bartenders are the best!  You won’t be disappointed.

What a great place - such a friendly atmosphere, with reasonable prices for food and drink.  It has a real West Village neighborhood feel.

My mother’s blueberry pancakes had raw batter in the middle. My eggs Benny had a see through hollandaise sauce, and everything had a distinctly strange after taste. Unless you are coming for drinks and or their pastry basket, this place is a 0/10 for brunch.
