Zou Zou’s, the hot Eastern Mediterranean restaurant from chef Madeline Sperling in the Pendry Manhattan West hotel, just added a chic new cocktail lounge. Located a few floors up, Chez Zou is serving up cocktails in a plush jewel-toned space designed by AvroKO. Joey Smith, the much-celebrated bartender (previously of The NoMad, EMP Summer House, and Booker and Dax), has created a menu of libations that are inspired by the flavors of Sperling’s food. The savory, spicy, herbaceous, and zesty cocktails include the Dirty Zou (olive oil washed vodka, grape leaf, and Levantine cheese-stuffed olives), Fresh Prince (white rum, dill, cucumber, yogurt, and aloe), Fig and Honey (sherry, red wine, fig leaf, honey, soda), and the Pickle Spritz (vermouth, champagne, verjus, and pickled fennel). Light bites include flaming turkish pistachios, Scotch olives with merguez and cured lemons, and Kumamoto oysters with barberry mignonette.
