I’ve driven in from out of state on multiple occasions for safe pickup orders / to eat in the car and never have they given me any UTENSILS! For $90+ a meal you’d think they would be considerate and provide some. Not even a napkin.

So disappointed that such a great restaurant has such poor service. The food is outstanding and I was looking forward to having it again, but can’t let go of the fact that I experienced such rude and poor service. And looking at recent reviews, perhaps management should really evaluate the hostess who needs a very big lesson is hospitality. There are too many great options in the neighborhood to let this slide. If the full experience is your thing, don’t expect to feel like a valued guest.

You know why this place is great. It involves the duck (order ahead) and dumplings so we can skip over that. Why it stopped being great is the service. It’s either “80$ a person restaurant” vibe or “I work in the deli on the corner” type of vibe. Nothing in between. This issue definitely deteriorated in time and now it was enough for me to write about it. There were a couple waiters that picked up the slack and we were grateful for it. They know who they are but management doesn’t. Get better servers and fire the ones that not once ask us for refills, extra drinks, extra sides, never take away the empty glasses, empty plates and even if we want god damn dessert.

Soup dumplings were hot and pea shoots were cooked deliciously. My time fell apart with the wine experience, which this restaurant seems to lay heavy claim to. I ordered a full bottle of wine I’d been meaning to try for a long time. Food arrived first but glasses sat empty for a solid five minutes which by then dumplings had cooled off. After first glasses were poured, server took away the bottle. No big deal I wanted to just tuck in. We finished our glasses pretty quickly but no one followed up with second pour so I had to flag down our server and ask to bring out the bottle. When bill came I was charged for two glasses AND full bottle of the same wine even though we only had the one opened bottle. Then was explained they “don’t do full bottles to start and always have to do by the glass to begin”, which I have never heard of before. Price of full bottle was $25 more than listed on wine list as well. So much for having a great wine list if the service is not even at baseline level. Don’t go here for wine, just eat and then drink elsewhere.

Follow up: shout out to the head sommelier for reaching out and apologizing for the billing and service deficiencies. They refunded the wine and I will be updating my rating to 3 stars. Hopefully next time I go here things will work out.

One of the best Chinese food I’ve had outside of China. Truly authentic. Don’t miss the pork soup dumplings, the eggplant and pork belly!!
