Overview of New York City Restaurants scene

Two of the most famous foods NYC is known for are without a doubt pizza and bagels. So much can be written about these two staples and everyone has their own opinion on where and who does the best. For the quintessential slice try Joe's Pizza, or check out John’s Pizza around the corner on Bleecker Street - famously no slices. For a bagel, check out Tompkins Bagels, or in Brooklyn check out Williamsburg Bagels.

There is so much great food in NYC but one thing you cannot miss is Soul Food and the place to do it is Harlem. That’s right, fried chicken and waffles was invented right here in Harlem. At the top of my list is Amy Ruth’s, a now legendary restaurant, or try Spaha Bone and Broth right next door to The Apollo Theater.

There are literally thousands of restaurants in New York, so much that you could eat out at a different place every night. It is hard to choose which ones to share, but here are some stand outs. For the quintessential NYC dining experience you can not go past Danny Meyer's ** **Gramercy Tavern - head chef Micheal Anthony serves up breathtaking American fare in an elegant and sophisticated dining room. For the pinnacle of eating experiences it is hard to go past Eleven Madison Park, three Michelin stars and worth every cent. And finally there is  Blossom, while not as pricey as the aforementioned restaurants, this vegan restaurant is a huge hit with locals and visitors alike.

So as you can guess by now NYC is a food lovers paradise with every nook and cranny filled with great places to dine. From Brooklyn to Harlem there is great food everywhere. One area worth a mention is Restaurant Row, right in the heart of Hell's Kitchen and the Theater District. Restaurant Row runs down 46th street btw 8th and 9th ave, where you will find over forty unique NYC restaurants. A great place to explore and the place to eat before a trip to the theater.
